To receive an annual report from the Chair of the Parish Council
The Chair presented a report of parish council activity in 2024-25:
- The Council acted as a consultee for all planning applications. As always, it provided robust challenge and submitted comments of objection where applications were not in keeping with the heritage or character of the village.
- The Council maintains the Village Green and in the past year it commissioned a tree survey and paid for the dead wooding of all trees.
- Volunteer work continues to develop the Village Green and is greatly appreciated. The council was able to secure a grant from Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service to pay for an Interpretation Board and some plants.
- The car park at the Village Hall has been resurfaced and the council made a financial contribution towards the cost.
- Several items of street furniture have been upgraded. This included 3 benches around the village and 4 picnic tables for the Village Green, all in a teak effect recycled plastic, to reduce the burden of maintenance.
- The Play Park has been a significant focus for the council: a) A new Adult & Toddler Swing has been installed, b) The Council applied for and was awarded a grant of £23,925 from WLDC. This will pay for new equipment, including a Trim Trail. c) An order has been placed with Darren’s Dens and installation will commence in May 2025.
- The Community Speedwatch group of volunteers continues to be active within the village and is supported by the Council. A new Speed Indicator Device has been purchased and its installation on Rasen Road is imminent.
- Arrangements have been made for the Village Gates on Rasen Road to receive some much needed repair and painting. This is scheduled for May 2025.
- The Council receives excellent support from County Councillor Stephen Bunney and District Councillor Moira Westley. This enabled the Council to press for highways repairs to Papermill Lane and other areas of the village.
